Matty :)

We are all guilty of taking life for granted at times. There are times that I wish I had a different life, or things had gone a different way. Unfortunately the way our lives go about is destiny, one which we cannot control. Destiny led me to reconnect with an amazing person this past year. A little boy who used to call me “Bobina” and pick on me like I was his sister walked back into my life. When I ran into him fall semester I was super excited… then I drank too much and claimed him as my little. He is one person I know who never took his life for granted. He lived a damn good 20 years to the fullest he could have. Matt Trabert brought smiles to so many faces and really made a mark on the lives of all the people he came across. Matty I will miss you so much and really miss all of those big and little shots we took together, the nights I heard you yelling “BLAMIRE!!!!” in the halls of Sigma Nu, and how you made everyone around you smile. I am really gonna miss you, the last person, calling me bobina. It was like our one secret connection to a childhood full of memories.

I finally got to see Matt’s dad today, after wayyyy too long. I always imagined me, Matty, and Scott meeting up at a football game to have a couple beers and reminisce on those old ski day memories. I wish he had been there for the little family reunion. I know he wouldn’t have missed it for the world. And I promised his dad I would mail him a picture of me and matt that I asked him to give to his dad for Christmas… and I knew he never did. Hopefully this can help a family see what a phenomenal and amazing person they raised.

When I got out of the car to go see his family I said, “he lived one of the most epic lives I have ever known.” You will forever be in the hearts of everyone and never be forgotten. Little I’m gonna miss you so much, but know that the world will never be the same without you… but you made the rest of our lives just a little bit more epic by being in it.
